Forsythe 7-25-07
July/25/2007 04:23 PM
Today was an impromptu trip out to Forsythe NWR. Even
though the only "pink" we saw was the explosion of
Marsh Mallows in bloom (we didn't get to see the
Roseate Spoonbill) there were plenty of birds to see.
A variety of shorebirds, mostly Semi-Palmated
Sandpipers, Yellow Legs, Short-Billed Dowitchers,
were on every mudflat. There were large groups of
Glossy Ibis, 1 group ~ 100 est. Plenty of Terns,
Egrets & Herons (including Blk-Crowned
Night-Herons) all busy feeding in the shallow waters.
Even a group of Diamondback terrapins were out
sunning themselves. And of course the Greenheads were
out in full force!
